MSDNAA Program

The Computer Science and Engineering departents at Calvin college have joined the Microsoft Software Development Network Academic Alliance which allows us to install any Microsoft operating system and software development environment on any of our computers.

Additionally, faculty and students enrolled in CS or ENGR courses can download these same things for their own personal (academic) use.

You should receive an email at the beginning of the semester when you enroll for a CS or ENGR course which tells you how to access the MS material. Otherwise, you can go directly to Calvin’s MSDNAA webpage to ask for a password.

Restrictions

  • You cannot get Microsoft Office through the MSDNAA.
  • The software you download cannot be sold or installed on any other machine except your own.
  • You cannot run a business with this software; it’s for academic use only.
  • You can continue to use the Microsoft software after you graduate (or stop taking CS and ENGR courses). All of the old restrictions still apply, though.

There may be other restrictions that Microsoft place on their software. Read their license agreement for more information.

Assistance

If you have problems downloading and burning the software from the site or if there are Microsoft packages you’d like to see offered, contact Gary Draving, Calvin’s MSDNAA administrator.
