Facilities
Prof. Laverell, Josh Holtrop (BCS, 2007) & Phil Davis (BCS, 2006) monitor EmuLab performance in the hardware lab.
We maintain the following class-lab facilities.
We also maintain a number of specialized research labs and virtual facilities.
Research Labs
CSX Lab (Computer Science eXperience) – SB 319 – This lab is the home of the department’s student-run computing facilities. The students run their own servers and develop their own software using this facility.
Supercomputing Lab – SB 381 – This lab is the home of the department’s Beowolf clusters: Ohm and Microwulf.
CCEL – SB 383 – This lab is the “brick and mortar division” of the Christian Classics Ethereal Library.
Virtual Facilities
mirror.calvin.edu mirrors various software, including various flavors of Linux, CPAN, Eclipse, Mozilla browsers and mail clients, etc.
Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) allows students enrolled in computer science or engineering courses to download and install any operating system, server, or development environment that Microsoft has to offer.
