Facilities

Gluwlab-fall-2006

CS 108 students and faculty work collaboratively in our Gnu-LinUx-Windows lab (GLUW lab). Many of our courses offer class-lab sessions in this facility.

We maintain the following class-lab facilities.

We also maintain a number of specialized research labs and virtual facilities.

Research Labs

  • CSX LabSB 319 – This lab is maintained by Abstraction for their software and hardware projects.

  • Supercomputing LabSB 381 – This lab is the home of the department’s Beowolf clusters: Ohm and Microwulf.

  • CCELSB 383 – This lab is the “brick and mortar division” of the Christian Classics Ethereal Library.

Virtual Facilities

  • mirror.calvin.edu mirrors various software, including various flavors of Linux, CPAN, Eclipse, Mozilla browsers and mail clients, etc.

  • Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) allows students enrolled in computer science or engineering courses to download and install any operating system, server, or development environment that Microsoft has to offer.
